PF optees made to pay huge amount for pension

On the eve of 9 th bipartite settlement, UFBU and IBA have agreed on a pension settlement:
All employees who had earlier give PF option, if they want to switchover to the pension option, they have to pay 2.8 time of the revised pay for the month of November 2007.
This announcement and settlement has started huge controversy among the bank employees across the nation and they have come together to fight against this injustice arrived by the parties to the agreement:
All PF optees can analyse the issue and post their comments in this blog:

  1. It is clear fact that 55% out of total bank employees had earlier opted for PF and await for one more option. They have come a longway until this present settlement and were undergoing several demonstration programmes, strikes etc for this cause.
But suddenly the leaders have signed an agreement wherein it is being stressed that the PF optees who are 55% of the total personnel strength, have to pay 2.8 times of the NOV 2007 revised pay for getting one more option for pension.
Hence this settlement has not taken care of the interests of 55% of bank employees.
Where do this UFBU stand now after facing the wrath of 55% employees??

  2. Since the 1960s, employment law has changed most radically in the protection that it gives employees against discrimination in the workplace!Leaders have forgotten that the majority of the employees have been discriminated when 45% of the employees have been awarded pension without any cost the rest are now asked to pay Rs 75000 to Rs 100000 out of their pockets to join the pension fund.
There is no logic in the pension settlement

  3. Our legislations in the recent years provided employees with more avenues to challenge alleged discrimination. In US the 1963 Equal Pay Act (29 U.S.C.A. § 216 (d)) requires employers to pay men and women equal wages for equal work. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C.A. § 2000e et seq.) contains broad prohibitions against discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. Discrimination against persons ages 40 and over was banned in 1967 by the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (29 U.S.C.A. § 621 et seq.).

Major amendments to the general civil rights acts were passed in 1972, extending coverage to federal and state employees; in 1978, clarifying the protection of pregnant women; and in 1991, overruling a series of decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court that had restricted the reach of antidiscrimination statutes.

In 1990, Congress passed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (42 U.S.C.A. § 12101 et seq.), forbidding discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities and requiring reasonable efforts to accommodate persons with disabilities in some situations.

With the growth of federal antidiscrimination statutes, many states have passed laws banning employment discrimination. A number of cities have enacted their own programs, as well. Some states and cities address issues that are not covered by the federal statutes, such as discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, within the different sections among the employees etc
